Put away or discard random items that tend to pile up in the kitchen like bills, homework, books or those doughnuts from last week that you forgot about. Flowers
Adding some flowers is always a nice touch. You don’t have to spend a fortune. One rose in a bud vase is a lovely detail. This is also an opportunity to use color to accent your kitchen design. Flowers smell good and make the kitchen look fresh and inviting. You may also want to dig out some other vases and have them handy in case guests arrive with flowers, too.

You may want to take out some glasses and some beverages for your guests and set up a drink station. Don’t forget to put out napkins and some bowls of finger snacks. Everyone loves chips and pretzels. If ice is not in easy reach, you can even put out an ice bucket.
