When doing any kind of kitchen design or redesign, there is form and there is function. How easy surfaces are to clean is a functional element. For those of us who do a lot of cooking, the ease of clean-up may be of primary importance. So, in today’s blog, we are going to talk about easy clean kitchen surfaces.

Counters

Most kitchen counters today are easy to clean. From lower-priced laminates to the highest-end granite, most of these surfaces clean up quickly with warm soapy water and a sponge or soft cloth. Commercial kitchens often have a stainless-steel surface (and backsplash) which is easy to clean and almost sterilize.

The only surfaces that would not be as easy to clean would be wood, which is porous or a tile counter with lots of grout lines. Tile and grout can be cleaned, but it is not as perfectly flat as a solid surface, so it would require more time and effort during clean-up.

Cabinets

The general rule is that the smoother the surface, the easier it is to clean because dust and dirt does not stick as easily. However, smooth surfaces can show fingerprints easily. For this reason, anything with a lacquer finish and new contemporary styles are often easier to clean.

In addition, cabinet hardware or pulls that are elaborate and detailed will be harder to clean than simple and smooth ones.
