Styles are always changing in the kitchen as in other areas of home design. In today’s blog article we are going to talk about the 2022 trends in kitchen hardware.
Drawer and Cabinet Pulls
The trend is using sleek metal pulls. Gold and brass colours are coming back into style, and silver or nickel or black remain stylish. Also, these pulls tend to have squared off edges. Pulls are now becoming available that are adjustable so that new holes do not need to be drilled on older cabinets if the new pulls do not fit.
Another trend we are seeing is to have no pulls at all. This is not something new, but it is in keeping with a smooth, contemporary design.
Other Hardware
Cabinet and drawer hinges will match the pulls if the hinges are seen. Hinges are becoming more adjustable. Drawer slides are becoming more sophisticated, quiet, and most clients want soft-closing drawers that will not slam and/or self-closing drawers that will close themselves with a slight push.
Sink Hardware
Sink hardware often matches drawer and cabinet hardware, as before, but we are seeing more and more metal colours for sink hardware, even copper or copper-coloured. Most clients want mixers instead of separate hot and cold handles. Also, sink hardware near a cooktop which will function as a pot filler is becoming more common.
What you choose for hardware and accessories in the kitchen will and should depend on the intended use. If you are planning a sale of the house in the near future, then being trendy can help your home’s value. However, if you are designing a kitchen for your own use, it is important that you choose what you like because you are the one living with the kitchen, and what it on trend right now will not matter as much to you. Consider carefully the kitchen’s intended use before choosing your hardware style, and let a kitchen designer help you make good decisions that you will be happy with for a long time.
