Tops and Surfaces of Cabinets
Be sure to clean off the tops of your cabinets if they don’t go to the ceiling. Dust and grime will accumulate there over time. Also, wipe down the surfaces of your cabinets. If you don’t do it regularly, definitely include this in your spring cleaning. When you’re cooking a fine mist of steam and/or oil will get on the surfaces of everything over time. This is your opportunity to get rid of all of it.
Drawers and Cupboards
Empty drawers and clean or at least vacuum them out. No matter how clean you are, you will get dust particles, crumbs, and even the odd hair in your drawers and cabinets. These particles need to be cleaned out, so now is a good opportunity. Those with pets will find pet hair and dander. It’s unavoidable.
Cooktops and Ovens
Now is a great time to thoroughly clean cooktops and ovens. Get all the nooks and crannies, and if you’re cleaning the oven, then open the window for some ventilation, and wear gloves.
Counters
Carefully clean all the counters and wipe down any exposed small appliances. In the age of COVID-19 you will want to be doing this regularly anyway. A simple solution of some bleach and water will disinfect everything. Don’t forget the backsplash.
Floors
Wash the floor, and clean the grout if needed. There are lots of ways to clean grout, if you have a tile floor. Grout should be carefully cleaned at least once a year if you want your floor to look pristine. Don’t forget to wipe down the baseboards. How you clean the floor depends on the flooring, but plain warm water is a good choice because water is the universal solvent and will remove most types of dirt.
