Kitchens are rarely as big as we would like them to be, and storage is often at a premium. So, how do we maximize the storage when your Langley kitchen is small? In today’s blog article, we are going to give you a few ideas.

Ceiling

If you already have cabinets installed that you are not changing, and they do not go to the ceiling, then you can add small cabinets over the cabinets you already have. This will increase your upper cabinet volume by about 30 percent.

If you are designing a new kitchen in Langley then start by choosing upper cabinets that go continuously to the ceiling. Yes, you may need a step stool from time to time, but you will have much more cabinet space.

Counter Space

Consider how much counter space you need and how you will use it. Sometimes, you can give up a little counter space to have cabinetry from floor to ceiling. That’s a big improvement in storage.

Other Spaces

Sometimes you can steal some extra space under an island or even inside a roll-away cart. If you have the wall space, but not the budget, there are inexpensive stainless steel shelving units on wheels that will hold more than 500 pounds per shelf.

Also, consider if you can hang some things from the ceiling or walls like pots and pans or baking dishes or even potatoes or onions. When space is tight, you have to get creative and think vertically. One last suggestion is to choose cabinets that you will use efficiently whether it is drawers or corner cabinets or cabinets with sliding shelves. Design the space for what works with your possessions and your cooking habits.
